Ping Problem with BC2 Beta

This is the problem I've been having during the entire beta. I hope it gets fixed in the full release because its much harder to play witha higher ping.

Went an empty Australian server where the latency says this




And the ping shown on my G15 and felt in game is this



Very frustrating. Sometimes it sits higher, especially in a full server it will sit at 70-80 constant.

It's the Beta mate just wait for full release.

Ping of 50, whats the complaint? Mine is always 50.

Should be 16 like i get on 2142 and as it says on the server list

try a ping of 70 - 80 then you have something to fuckn whine about

The difference between 16 and 50 is so microscopic as to be impossible to tell.
Up to 100/120 is pretty hard to tell the difference if you have a clean connection.

If you are having problems in bc2, it may just be you

There is physics involved again now. The bullets don't hit instantaneously in a direct line as they have in CoD since CoD2 and BF as since forever.
You have to allow for movement, bullet drop etc.

Many years ago padawan, i played CoD vanilla and this is very similar.
We played base assault etc rifle only (no stats/no roe) and that needed all the skills required in BC2.

You will get used to it and I'm sure there will be some optimising going on for the final release but really, 16/45/65/80 pings are all extemely playable and any reasonable player will do fine.

Just saying I can notice a difference. a ping of 50 is very playable when that is what I'm meant to be getting from the server. When its supposed to be 16 it becomes very jumpy, i get double ups of sounds and reloading animations. I understand that there is bullet drop physics applied, there is in 2142 as well. Just wondering if anyone knew why i was getting a higher ping than i was meant to be getting. I'll wait till Thursday to see if the problem persists in the full release, then I'll expore solutions.

When the game comes out you should get the same ping to our Bc2 server as you do to the 2142 server.


It's in the same physical server. If you don't the it's the amount of information that bc2 sends and receives.

Hairy, in BF2142 when KP has a ping of 10 and i have a ping of 40 there is a big farking difference

He has jumped out of the FAV, Jihaded the tank and sat down for a smoke and I'm only just seeing the damn back of the tank coming up in my FAV second position gun sights.

I've gone boom to KP's Jihads more than once because of this so I understand how KP gets that little bit of a headstart in a knife fight with that farking ping

milliseconds are long in reaction based games like fps's

would be great to have a ping under 20 though

I go to any server even with 200 to 250 if ness and play and do fine.

There has never been a 2142 server for me @ under 47 and most range up to 75 on average.

That thousands of a second is hardly enough to do anything and i haven't found it's an advantage to digitally/lethally quick human response times

(And sometimes ping doesn't reflect the routing of your isp through shit nodes which whilst having good ping, still gives you a shit connection along with whatever packet shaping they do etc.)

I'm happy with any clean connection with a ping of underr 100.
