My Oil PC is dead.

Well guys it looks like the oil PC adventure is over.

During the night the pigtail on the CPU water block pulled out of the casing. Looks like it wasn't threaded just pressed in. As soon as the water level got to the PSU the Earth leakage device tripped then about 3L of oil drained back into the pool. I never imagined such a large leak and have got out of it pretty lightly. The office could have been completely flooded along with the whole mobo immersed in water. As it was only the bottom inch got wet. I don't know if all the components are still working they are drying out.

So I am going back to a conventional case. I would have really liked to stay with the oil PC because of its coolness and quietness, but it was rather high maintenance and a bitch to work on.

It looks like the PSU is screwed too! Don't know about the mobo yet.

Life on the edge sometimes ends that way I guess. Hope the oil cleanup in the pool is okay. No oil slick covered engangered species of birds I guess

I was the only endangered species! The wife could smell that it was going to cost money to fix, so she wasn't happy. It was also my daughters birthday party so she wasn't thrilled that they couldn't use the pool. The pool is nearly clean again. I got most of it in the first couple of hours using the skimmer box but then the wind has been blowing it down the wrong end of the pool all weekend. Definitely not easy to clean up.

Blimey mate. Grab a few of those green peace hippy types to help out with the clean up. Shouldnt be too hard to find down in the bay where you are. Just mention something about the endangered Eastern Coast Mallard Duck, and you'll be set.


Ya poor bugger. Amazing thing to see when it was working. "Unique" is the word. I guarantee the only one of its type in the world. Flamin' garden hoses strung everywhere to cool the PC.
