Okay so they did a broadcast online, which was put onto Youtube and can be found hyeaar
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FQJtTqub60&context=C47a477bADvjVQa1PpcFNyg3vD9s5aDXpkMbiCAw0SQAXs4UvVNF4=Basically they interviewed three dev's from 2dawn and asked a bunch of questions with a
youtube clip lasting for 44mins so for all those who cant be fucked listening to these guys,
or dont have time to(lylow) I decided I would put my great literacy skills to providing you
guys with a summary of the 44 minnit interview
About 2Dawn:They are a small group of indie(
Has not publishers behind them) game developers, who
have decided to work on a game together and produce it using a virtual studio where by
the developers can come home after work, and progress on creating this game we call ravaged.
*Fun Fact!* 2Dawn's name is inspired by their ruthless programming and designing of this
game after a long day at work they continue to dawn. huh pretty funny ae? FUCK YOU ITS FUNNY JUST LAUGH!
Through the use of virtual studios these developers are able to work alongside some of the
best talent from around the world without having the restrictions of local talent. (OI STOP THINKING OF PUSSY MAN)
*My Opinion* Well in my opinion I think they seem very committed and very talented to produce
such an awesome looking game with no funding by a publisher such as EA or Activision because
it means they are not MONEY HUNGRY they are overly talented nerdy game dev's who are committed
to making an awesome game first and worrying about profits second.
*note*
They have spent their own money, out of their own pocket to fund this game,
they have also spent countless hours after working a full time job to try bring us this game.
They are fucking more committed to creating a good game than making money and they
will not let this game fail upon release they will not neglect us like DICE has recently
Dev quote
'We believe in supporting our fan-base ya de da de da'
Game-modes:
Okay so far only two have been mentioned, and I am unsure if more will be created pre/post launch
but here is what I know about the two mentioned so far.
Thrust:This game mode involves capturing objectives or "Control points" which you must capture in sequence
and you cant jump around like in battlefield 3 or bc2 where you can capture any objective so long as
you are there.
*My Opinion* So with there being no way to capture objectives out of sequence I can see this being
a bit like metro conquest on a 64 player server where by its a full push of mite to capture and push forward.
On the other hand, the maps wont restrict direction or freedom of movement, for this game-mode, which
hopefully means that flanking the enemy will still be important as you will most likely want to try turn the
oppositions attention away from the front-line and give them a new flank to worry about.
Resource Control:
Obviously ravaged is a game set in a time with limited means(STUFF), and this game-mode implements
the idea of stealing enemy resources from their base and then returning those stolen resources to your
own base, therefore fueling your war effort and doubling your porn stash. Obviously you can mentally
link this game mode to something like capture the flag, only with more flags and more reason to steal them.
The resources you will steal range from oil drums too guns and ammunition's!
*Fun Fact!* Resource Control is the name of a mode and a map!? WTF? loading screen... 'You are now
on your way to resource control to play some resource control!
'
*My Opinion* Okay so with multiple objectives this game-mode will be interesting considering that the
objectives capture or 'stolen' will most likely be directly related to in game benefits such as fueling that
gyro copter with stolen fuels, or shooting that guy in the face using his own stolen magazine. First time
I've seen something like this and it will be interesting to see how this mode is played as to attack/defend.
Maps:
So they talked a bit about maps, and map sizes for what we can expect in the game, and from what I could
tell they have a range of maps, from small infantry only to large conquest type maps similar to bf3's and medium
sized maps. The max player count for a server is 64 players and I'm sure come release there will be recommendations
for map size to the player numbers.
Some of the smaller maps they mentioned that melee combat would be ideal in a specific map called 'Iceland' which
is infantry only, where lylow can get his tdm fixes and hakk noobs up with an axe!
All medium and large maps will feature vehicles and there will be no absence of them on the playing field as
they spoke of BF2 and the problems created by limited vehicle numbers and the tking it caused over choppers.
*My Opinion* Don't give a shit so long as there is a mix
Vehicles:
So ill start by listing the ones we know will be launched with the game... (please correct me if I get the lingo wrong, im a noob when it comes to cars!)
Trike
ATV (four wheeler)
Mustang of awesomeness
Gyro Copter
Jeep?
Sand/off roading buggy?
So a bit more info with the Trike and ATV, because of the lean factor introduced to this game these two vehicles will
have a fun side to them, where if you are driving fast in a strait line, and you want to make a sharp turn, if you do so
without leaning into it, you will roll your ATV/Trike and get thrown off it.
Dont know about you guys but first thing im
gonna do in the beta is try kill some body by rolling a Trike/ATV over the top of them!
New Vehicles:
So they didnt say much about it, but there are more vehicles to come which will be release shortly after the full game has
been released on steam. Not sure what it is but they said it was 'cool' and 'interesting stuff'
*My Opinion* Awesome looking cars, will be needed for transport and running people over
Weapons:
They did not go into specifics when it came to types of weapons but mentioned that guns would vary from machine guns
too hand guns ect, most info was kept under wraps about hand held guns. HOWEVER they did mention a few types of melee
weapons and HOMEMADE BOMS! FUCK YEH!
Melee:
Bats, Crowbars, Axes, Butcher Axe, Knives ect. - They are however working on throw-able melee weapons -
Explosives:Only one was mentioned thus far, and it was called a Soda Bottle Bom. This bom is basically a soda bottle with beads(Shrapnel)
and gunpowder which you would tend to find in a grenade I suppose, anyway, it has an ipod detonator stuck to the side of this
soda bottle bom. Even in the Apocalypse, Apple still thrives... 'That thing is cool, hehehehehe'
-The soda bom can be cocked and cooked like any standard grenade which is nice to know coming from DICE's fail grenades-
This is the only info the mentioned thus far on boms and weapons ect so im sure its not JUST the soda bom it will
be more than just one type as they mentioned the home-made bom's (PLURAL) which will be shown in the beta
hopefully.
*My opinion* Home made boms? FUCK YEH! Butcher Axe? FUCK YEH! More boms to come? FUCK YEH!!!!
User Interface UI:
They did mention a game manager for server browsing and steam integrated for inviting friends to games ect.
For in game spawning they did mention maps and spawn points for players which will be 'in your face' and will
be somewhat similar to BF2's but modernized.
WARNING SAD SPOILER ALERT There will be no squads, no commanders, no leaders giving directions, only the hud
and notifications to lead players to the ideal objectives for their team. From this they predict utter carnage and
decided to take this path to avoid strategic planning of today's modern shooters. ummmm get out?
Im still unsure about voip but at this stage it looks like it will be a no go, unless they change their minds on it
*My Opinion* Omg I really cbf typing this one
BETA:
They said the Beta would be release in early spring but did not mention which spring from what location. They spoke
in tounges so go to the video 39:11 in and listen to it for yourself cause I cbf typing it out.
It will be done on steam, and if you have got your pre-order done, then beta keys will be emailed to you, which you will
then use on steam and download the beta from there.
Rank/Stats and Unlocks:
At the moment they have not created and such ranking system or unlock system in ravaged as it is still undergoing
discussion amongst them weather or not to include them is still anyone's guess. However one of the interviewed
showed great resilience to the idea of having unlocks and ranks in a game, and prefered the idea of all content unlocked
on day one. *NOTE* If you want no rank or unlock system start using your voice on their forums, so you can have a say! (VICE VERSA)
IN SUMMARY!!
Ravaged looks like it has major potential with the talented developers from all around the globe working around the
clock on their own time to make this game work is outstanding and I look forward to seeing what they will provide us with
in the beta release!
PEACE
