Helps ?!

I have a Windows XP laptop and I'm trying to connect it to my desktop that's running win7 and everything keeps telling me to change my win7 pc to workgroup, not homegroup but how the hell do I do that ?!

try click the start button and at the bottom where you can type in a search, search workgroup or homegroup, this should take you to an options screen where you can change it, just searched on my win7 and it came up. im not 100 percent on how to change it but once you search and get the right screen up it should be pretty self explanatory.

Right click on the network icon in the taskbar then select open network and sharing center. Second row of icon you will see a house icon with network next to it. Hit the blue fonts under the network "home network". then change it to whatever you like

Yeah I tried to change it to Work Network, but it still comes up as homegroup :S
Both computers have the same workgroup name, I just can't change the win7 pc to workgroup

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings


Try looking in there. It's not the name so much as the permissions you give to other computers to see you win 7 pc.
