Hey Guys

I'm a bit stumped and need some help working this out

Prob started after I formatted C

When looking at the forums I can't see some pics. Nothing from severrimg.com
I couldn't download from teamspeak3 and a few other things that like I can't watch vids from some sites Really starting to give me the shits

I use firefox, but the prob still happens in IE
I can use my laptop on the same router and all is fine

any suggestions as my next step is to format C again which I really don't want to do

As far as the video issue its probably a codecs issue. Download ac3filter from http://ac3filter.net/ , coreavc pm you email and i will send it to you its only 1.5mb. I cant find anywere apart from torrents or usenet to get the full version. After them you can try xvid and divx they are freeware just google it

What OS do you have?

Turn off the standard windows firewall, it sounds like your getting certain things blocked.

Erm, what files did you delete from the C drive? You do know it is technically the default windows drive as the "primary" partion.. You didn't format the C: Drive that has your windows installation on it, did you? By the way, do you have adblock plus?

If it won't turn on it's likely the video card. First try the vid card, then ram then lastly CPU.

Well it looks like the mother board shit it self

He suggested as a part budget

Coolmaster - Centurion - s case $135
I5 - 2.66 Quadcore - $279
P55 - Gigabyte Mother board $150
4GB DDR3 ram $160

He suggested either GTX-260 $300
Or if I can afford it GTX - 470 $500

Would like
Win7 $150

Or he said he could replace mother board for $200 He also said that I had a Foxconn P9657AA Mother board and he can't get them any more so I have to go down to a 2 Ram slot board

Not sure what to do as finances are tight atm because of an up and coming trip to US in August so this really happened at the worst time Cry

Use your current case.

So - $135

Don't get a GTX 260 especially for $300 thats a rip, don't get a GTX 470 either, just get a 5850 or even a 5770, the 5850 is a great card for it's price and the 5770 is really cheap and runs pretty good.

OK

My budget is basically nil but I guess I'm going to have to sell my body or something to get this done. Lylow would know all about that right??

The cheapest way I can see it is just to find another board the same as I got and whack it in and hope for the best

As I see it I can prob get another motherboard of the net. I found these
http://www.cosmic.net.au/index.phtml?act=info&pid=2536
http://www.digitan.com.au/product.php?productid=44253&cat=1057&page=1

I still have
Intel(R)Core(TM)2CPU
6600 @ 2.4GHz
2.43GHz, 3.00GB of Ram

I would like to upgrade the NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT to the 5770, would that work?
I have a 500w powersupply in my case but the guy at the store said it's an old type and not the ones that don't fluctuate or something like that so I may have to get another case

Man I don't know what the fuck to do. I can just see me doing this and then something else fucks up

Find a decent 2nd hand asus board such as a p5kr or p5q pro, chuck that in and look around for a 2nd hand 4870 or 4890 or 260 gtx, all of which still have some warranty to run.

5770 is less powerful than the above cards and generally will cost more and why the need to stick with an identical foxconn board.

Hell, i could find you both 2nd hand here for no more than 250$.

i have a 6600 and a 5770 and i can play bc2 no problems. if you can find a m/b with pci express 2.0 get one. there are known problems with pci-express 1 compatability.i found a gigabyte ep41-ud3l for $73 at msy but i don't know if it is pci-express 2.0 or not.
look at staticice.com.au. for p45 gigabytem/b
http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=gigabyte+p45&spos=1

msy have gtx 260 for$213 if you want one.

The reason for the same board is I know fuck all about PC and my way of thinking is to just replace with same and hopefully I don't fuck up. And that's the prob too, so many different products code I don't really know what I'm looking at

My system ran fine before, not the best but OK. Would like a new GPU while I'm at it and I think I can get it running sweet

All you need is a m/b that supports the LGA 775 cpu, they are shit loads out there. After that you pick the options that you would like on it for example dual lan ports and crap load of usb ports.
As far the power supply i need more info like brand and model so i can tell you if it will work. Basicly i need to find out if its a true 500w. Dont listen to the dickhead in he shop. Why would you spend money on a case when you can just buy a power supply.
This link will give you an idea what power supply you would need to run you pc. Fill in the blanks. http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
All the board will support ATI and Nvidia the problem is some dont support sli or croosfire. Which means you will be running two graphics cards in you system.

i forgot to mentioned that if you want to compare prices use this link www.staticice.com.au . You can search you state only just add this next to the search "state: WA". For example "5770 state:WA"

power supply is

atx-piv 400w

mmm I thought it was something else

If I want to purchase a new power supply what do I need to watch out for? I was thinking of getting a new one about 750w maybe, so that when I get the chance I can update to a better PC but stay with the same case. Basiclay does it matter if you run a PSU with a higher wattage?
