| I'm looking at getting a headset with mic so i'm curious to see what others are using.
I've seen only steel series/logitech/sennheiser/razor but no one actually uses those so no 1st hand info-advice.
People have mentioned the clip on aren't noise cancelling and can be annoying for other players due to sounds.heavy breathing... And then there are desktop mounted mics.
Advice would be welcome.

| Cripes, I thought with all thses flash machines that you guys would have$150 headsets I may rethink the ones i listed then. Are you finding the sounds/positioning clear on those headsets? And how about others hearing what you say? Clear as? | |

| I've got a set of logitech cheapies. If you spend alot make sure when you take them off that the cords are out of the way and the headset is placed safely on the desk. I think afew of us have decided to take the headset, cord, computer with us as we race to the toilet or to the fridge for more alchohol only to pull wires or snap mics. | |

| I use Logitech "clear chat", ($30) the mics good but I have the game sounds come out the speakers. Yeah, I had to replace my last one cos I kept rolling over the cord with the chair wheels. | |

| Have you got a dedicated sound card? Even if you do I think the USB ones are better. | |

| Its an onboard x-fi chip on a Asus rampage gene II mobo. I't is meant to have the crystallizer etc. but some people say it's not the same as a x-fi card. I really have no idea but it works fine.
Heh, I did that a few times when i had a DS headphone set a few years back.

| I hate USB headsets. I don't trust USB, things just seem to stuff up.
I use a plantonics boom mic on the desk $19 that picks up the sound nicely and I can turn it off easily (yes, sometimes I forget to turn it on)
I've got Sennheiser HD202's plugged into my sound card.
And when you do that beer run, remember to take the headset off or you will end up with a wireless set of stuffed headphones.
You could also look at a set of wireless headphones with a dedicated mic on the desk. That way when you go to take a piss no one will hear you. But you can still hear what's going on (depending how far away the loo or the pot plant in the corner of the room is)

| .........+1 for the pot plant. I dont like USB headphones either. Prefer to go with what I know - the old 3.5 mm jack works every time. Ive got a set of plantronics too! And I didnt even know until I had a look at them just now. LMAO, im a noob. They cost $60 or $70 or something. My first ever set of headphones though were beautiful fatal1ty gaming headphones with mic built in - by Creative. The most comfortable headset I ever had. Then one day they stopped working. Turns out they are fine - but my old Mobo output jack was knackered. (I only found this out after 2 more sets of headphones ) I could go back to them I suppose - but I think they're in a box somewhere covered in dust and spiders - all of whom are just waiting to lay eggs in my brain when I put them back on................... - Regats wrote:

ME TOO! Lol! I thought I was the only one! I've even gotten the cord tangled around the bloody roller wheels internal "axle" I suppose you'd call it, and had to dismantle the thing to get my cord out - THE MIGHTY PYTHON wrote:

Rofl mate. Mine are huge freakin things too. Silver grills over the outer ear covers. Stick out like dogs balls. You could be mistaken for a NASA launch technician in these things!

| Yeah, I don't like usb headsets either, I had one before but it never sounded half as good as a good old mini-jack. | |
