| Chook, I'm happy with my GTX275 and am sure my E6750 Dual Core (2.66GHz stock overclocked to 3.2GHz on air) is holding the GPU back even in 2142 and MW2. So I'm guessing my best option is to go for a 2.66GHz Q9400 and hope I can overclock that to around 3GHz with the current air cooler (I'm sure it will work better after I clean it and put some new thermal gel on anyway). My son's box can then benefit from the old dual core. And given it has my old 8800GTS in it he can play BF2142 without any problems (except he's not old enough and I won't let him). You think that is the best way to go? Besides dropping the whole thing in my spare fish tank and filling it with oil, and installing a radiator, neon lights and a mirror ball | |

| Mirror ball!! Great idea I will get one ASAP!
Why the Q9400? It only has 6M of cache. The Q9550 has 12M and only $50 dearer. Cache makes a big difference.
I notice Umart hardly stocks the old 775 CPU's any more. | |

| Yeah, MSY are a bit bare on the 775's, they only seem to go up to the Q9400 I'll see if I can find a Q9550 but otherwise it will be Umart and the Q9400 | |

| My mobo is an ASUS P5K-E WiFi and supports FSB 1333MHz which is what the Q9550 uses so it should support that if I can find one. Might have to update the bios first however. I'd better do a check on some forums and make sure. http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASUS/P5K-E_WiFi-AP.htmlYep, just need to update the bios to 1102 | |

| Ahhh crap, can't find a Q9550 in Australia, some mob have it for $396 but I guess that's because it's and old price and they do not really have it in stock any more. Even on ebay the only Q9550's in Australia are part of a system build. There are overseas sellers on ebay however.

| Ah crap, now Umart are saying they will not get anymore Q9400's in either. I'm checking with MSY if they really have stock but does anyone else know of a supplier that may have a Q9550 or Q9400 Intel CPU? | |

| Thanks cranky, I can pick one up from MSY tomorrow for $208. He said he has a couple left and put one aside for me. Just need to update my bios tonight and find my can of compressed air for the PC clean out tomorrow. Shame I couldn't find any 9550's | |
