Agree 100% I won't get excited about this anytime soon. It won't be the anything like 2142.


You'll have laser guns, remote control tanks, giant robots , unicorns in space suits and all kinds of shit that isn't needed.

2142 is still the best online FPS to-date. Even with all its bugs, glitches and imperfections.

Amen to that stabby, please bring on 2143! I mean come on, the game play of 2142 with the graphics of BF3 = total win. Common Dice its not that hard to figure out!

Cant say I've played 2142 before, but it looks like a game for disappointment.
Having recently created BF3 I find it hard to believe it would match BF3 in game-play, but that's just me

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2142 days but in saying that did so in bc2 and now in bf3.

If they do a remake, upgrade, new game etc I'll get onto it as well.

Well if it happens it will have some new technology that they are working on atm for a future game.

1942 was great then the mod desert combat came out and this was the same game engine battlefield Vietnam was released with.

Bad company 1 & 2 were stepping stones to where we are right now with the current game engine in BF3.

So yeah I would expect some more gaming innovations for the next major release to surface in this new version of 2142.

And hell who knows BC3?

IMO titan 2142 had the best balance of run and gun and true team based strategy gaming.

I just enjoyed it so much !! and allthough Its taken me a long time to get used to the run and gun style of bfbc2 and bf3 I miss those days of 2142 where you just had so many options, ie get silos, defend silos, attack titan or defend titan and how you would be so fluid with your options as the game progressed.

What I also miss is the HONOURABLE knife fight, you remeber you see an enemy draw your knife (as he is sighting you up) and in a test of honour draws the knife and you battle, fuck when you won those duals it was epic !!

In bf3 you have a knife that is an auto bot that has no honour !!

Yeah mate in BFV if I was about to shoot someone and then realized they were knife fighting I would wait till the outcome before killing the guy .. And if a knife was drawn on me mine came out and yeah there was respect for it.

Yeah I think you are right on the money there Jack .. PC had community, clans socialized and for the most part got along or at least respected each other.

It was a small town mentality where everyone knew each other and now there is this group of people who don't give a shit about anyone or anything.

Great times, 2142.

What made it so great was that the game had been made with nothing else in mind other than to be played on a computer. It was a "computer game" not a "video game". Back in those days, they were two different things.

The weaponry was a secondary consideration. No gimmicks or stupid unrealistic additions. Soldiers didnt need 12 different types of camouflage. Just 4 kits, with 3 guns each and 2 equipable items to personalise your kit - and then let your game play do the rest of the talking for you.

Any remake they give us would have us unlocking 84 different guns, with 22 different add on's for each. We'd lose our commanders because console players dont have enough buttons to have a commanding officer in a "realistic shooter" - and I mean , in reality nowadays there arent any commanding officers anymore right? Its all done by robots with glowing eyes that travel back from the future to kill Sarah Connor - movies have told me so, and thus I believe.

Conquest would have to be included because thats a mainstay. But we'd lose titan mode, because Team Death Match is better....

The epic 2 legged mech walkers synonymous with all things 2142 would have to go (because XBOX graphics would have a weird glitch as you sat down inside one, so naturally - they'd be dropped altogether). To be replaced by MAV's, UAV's, MTV's, LCD's and WMD's......

Friends lists? Whats a friends list? I have the PSN, thats all Im interested as a gamer. Microsoft live has a friends list too. I think so does my email. My game doesnt need to have another! (At least not one with say more than 5 spots on it).

Multiple accounts? No gamer likes to have multiple characters. They like to log in via their PSN account and give people their credit card details so that they can be defrauded. They dont want multiple accounts.

Ingame VOIP is all has-been stuff. Last years fashion, grandpa stuff. Ive got my genuine XBOX 360 microphone and headset (COD MW2 edition) and I can talk to anyone I want! (Although by "anyone", I mean all my 15 year old mates who like, talk like, totally, gnarly and uh, like, are like - awesome!

Infact, all I want to do as a gamer is come home, open up steam, origin, battlelog, TS3, Vent, Voon and Skype and sit down to a nice evening of friendly, competitive and honourable game play in the global community in which I make up one small, but yet oddly satisfied part.




No kiddies. The good old days are gone. We should go out, buy our XBOX 360's hook them up to our televisions, and game with the sound off while listening to Katy Perry and Akon. Because there are 2 people that really know the score.
